BARBARA NAN ACKERMAN
October 12, 1933 April 30, 2021
Barbara Nan Ackerman passed away on April 30, 2021 at the age of 87. She was born in Wisconsin on October 12, 1933 to Earl Wigginton and Alice Anderson Wigginton of Exeland, WI. Barbara had a bachelors degree in Education from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a masters degree in Education from University of Colorado- Colorado Springs.
Barbara taught English for 30 years at North Junior High School. Later she taught student teachers at Colorado College. After Barbara retired from teaching she pursued her love of history by serving as a docent at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Richard Joel Ackerman, a daughter Karee Leigh Wandell, two sons Grant Richard Ackerman and Mark David Ackerman and a grandson Richard Martin Noah Ackerman. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Alice Wigginton, a daughter Karen Lynn Ackerman and two brothers Lynn and Dean Wigginton.
Barbara did not wish to have any funeral service. Memorial contributions can be made in Barbara's name to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum.

Mrs. Ackerman was my English teacher at North Junior High we kept in touch all these years I even called and wished her a happy Mother's Day on Mother's Day not knowing I send prayers to the family if there's anything I can do please contact me. Mrs. Ackerman was a great lady I will deeply miss her
