Barbara Jean Johnson (Heim) was born November 11, 1937 to Ruth and Clarence Heim in Mishawaka, Indiana. She passed away on July 18, 2021 after a difficult battle with dementia. Barbara moved to California at the age of 19 where she met her future husband. On July 11, 1959 they were married at Alameda Naval Air Station. Gene was a pilot for both the Navy and TWA, and the two traveled the world together. They were blessed with three children: Kimberly (husband Jonathan Knight), Robert (wife Gabrielle), and Cassandra (husband Dan Fava), as well as six grandchildren: Alexandra Purcell, Lauren, Hannah, & Wolf Johnson, and Dade & Zoe Fava. In retirement they moved from California to Colorado. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Barbara also leaves behind her brother Edward Heim, of Mishawaka, IN and sister Janice Reed of Glendale, AZ. Her parents and two sisters, Mary and Georgia, and her beloved puppies Chamois and Yuki preceeded her in passing.



She was an amazing mother and grandmother to not only her family by blood, but anyone that crossed her path. She was a fiercely loyal friend and an advocate for anyone in need. She could meet someone for the first time and within five minutes know their entire life story. She loved being on stage and was a true thespian and lover of the arts. She will be deeply missed by all that had the pleasure to know her.



Barbara will be cremated and interred with her beloved husband Gene at Fort Logan Cemetery on September 20, 2021.
