Barbara Knudson Obituary

Barbara Lynn Knudson peacefully entered eternal life on December 17th 2015 while surrounded by loved ones. She was 76 years old.

Barbara was born in De Leon, Texas on August 19th 1939 to Cleo and Vera Jenkins. On February 17th "1961" she married Paul Duane Knudson in Denver, Colorado. Paul and Barbara moved to Colorado Springs with their three children in 1976.

Barbara returned to college after a thirty-year hiatus and proudly graduated from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 1983. Her adoration for learning and knowledge sparked her many passions such as music, literature and travel, the latter being the majority of her career and taking her around the world. It was an obvious choice for her to become a teacher later in life and she thoroughly enjoyed over twenty years with Everest College, formerly Blair Junior College, retiring earlier this year.

Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Gayle Jenkins; her mother, Vera (Parker) Jenkins; her father, Cleo Jenkins; and her husband, Paul Duane Knudson.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula (Knudson) Wulf; her son, Timothy Knudson; her daughter Norma (Knudson) Robertson and husband Dale. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Stevie Cannell, Michael Stone and wife Erin, David Nicholas and Joshua Robertson; and her great-grandchildren: Andrea, Allie, Jackson and Avery.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday December 26th 2015 at the "America the Beautiful" Chapel at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the University of Colorado Foundation. Please direct your contributions to the College of Education Fund in memory of Barbara Knudson. I was so sadden when I learned of Mrs. Knudson's passing. I had the pleasure of having her as an instructor. She help me get over the fear of speaking in front of a group and has inspired me everyday for the last 11 years. After graduation I would go and she her, she always made the time. We would send christmas cards every year. One special memory that I have and will always cherish is when her grandson Michael was preforming at the fine arts center, it was fantastic to share that with her. She always talked about Michael I think in every class. She gave a few of us a CD of Michael when he first started in New York and I still have it to this day, not to mention that she would play it in class also. Mrs. Knudson was and is my inspiration and always will be. You are truly missed and a beautiful angel in gold.

Barbara and I shared many special memories of times spent in the central Texas countryside with beloved grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins. Christmas with fireworks at night, huge playhouse in the plum thicket, walking down the sandy road to Carrie and Charlie's to swing, plus many more. Although recent years kept us apart in distance, phone conversations renewed the memories. I pray that the love of God and that of friends and family will be a great comfort to all her children and grandchildren.

To the memory of my cousin Barbara, with whom I shared a fun-filled childhood in De Leon, Texas. We played and laughed for days. May she rest in peace.

Oh my. Barb and I were in college together at UCCS. Then she became a travel agent and we lost touch. I am so sorry to hear of her death. She was a spunky lovely woman.
