Barbara C. Lindgren (July 6, 1929- October 17, 2013)

Beloved by all in her life, Barbara C. Lindgren, of Colorado Springs passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013.

She was born July 6, 1929 to Penelope and Hubert Sherwood of Independence, Kansas where she lived until graduating as an RN from the Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas. After marrying Charles Esch (deceased) in 1950, she moved to Colorado Springs in 1951 where she spent the rest of her full life.

Barbara is survived by five of her six children: Michael Esch and wife Jean of Colorado Springs, Cathy Lawther of Tulsa, Oklahoma (deceased); Curt Esch and wife Julia of Chipita, Park; Jean Armstrong and husband Tom of Torrington, Wyoming; Shelley Laur and husband Mike of Manitou Springs; and Dawn Miller and husband John of Syracuse, New York.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her surviving brothers and sisters are Michael Sherwood of Newburg, Oregon; Steve Sherwood of Independence, Kansas; and Judy Fienen of Independence, Kansas.

When not being the most wonderful mom to her children, Barbara spent her professional life as a registered Nurse, working for Penrose Hospital, Memorial Hospital and Colorado College. Her career at Colorado College included Nursing Director at the Boettcher Health center, where she was admired by students and staff for her professionalism, generosity and caring spirit.

After retiring from nursing, she married Stanley Lindgren (deceased) in Athens, Greece and returned to Colorado Springs to enjoy their large and loving family. Barbara was a true inspiration to all of her family and she will be truly missed.

In Barbara's memory, a short Memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Cappadona Funeral Home, 1020 E. Fillmore Street in Colorado Springs. A viewing will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
