Barbara Long Obituary

Barbara May Long, 70, passed away June 4, 2009 at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was one of six children born to Howard and Opal (Peal) McCall on June 30, 1938 in New Deal, Montana. As a young child Barbara moved to Comertown, Montana where for the next 18 years she was raised on the family farm. Barbara met the love of her life Russell “Russ� Long and they were married in September 16, 1956 in Comertown, Montana. In 1965 Russ and Barbara moved to Colorado Springs where Barbara worked for 20 years for School District #2, retiring in 1993. Barbara is survived by her husband, Russell N. Long; daughter, Cathy Long; three sons, Rick (Kim), Craig and Dean (Susie) Long; six grandchildren, Stephanie, John, Jennifer, Russell, Jeremy, and Kaitlyn, one great granddaughter, Brooke and three sisters, Bonita Olson, Vivian Veazy and Phyllis Long. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Aubrey and Bobby McCall. Barbara loved spending time with all of her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook. One of Barbara’s favorite hobbies was her flowers. Membership at Holy Cross Lutheran Church was very important to her. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 from 3-6 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4125 Constitution Avenue, Colorado Springs, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Blvd., Colorado Springs.
