BARBARA "BOBBI" J. SMITH
September 7, 1934 January 22, 2025
Barbara Jean Smith (Bobbi), age 90, a loving mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 22, in Canon City, Co. surrounded by her family.
Barbara (Bobbi) was born on September 7, 1934, to George and Mabel Forrester. Barbara and her two beloved sisters, Phyllis and Peggy, shared so many wonderful memories growing up. After graduating high school, Barbara went on to attend Emporia State University where she was a proud Sister of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority and Alumni. In 1958, she married the love of her life William "Bill" Smith, they had 61 wonderful years together before Bill's passing 12/22/2019.
Barbara was the loving and devoted mother of Jeff(Carrie), Lori(David), Cari(Ken) and later daughter Nancy(Gary) joined the family. She was also a beloved grandmother(13), great-grandmother(17) and great- great grandmother(2). Barbara's family brought her immense joy throughout her life. Her family was her greatest pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She so enjoyed camping, an impromptu hot dog roast in the backyard with all her family telling stories. She loved bowling, playing cards, she taught half of Woodland Park how to play Bridge and so enjoyed being a member of the Ute Pass Social Club.
Beyond her family, Barbara had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel at home. She became a motherly figure to so many who will always call her MOM. She offered a shoulder to lean/cry on, guidance, advice and her endless capacity for compassion. Her presence was a source of comfort, her laughter a source of joy, and her life a testament to the beauty of generosity and grace.
Barbara's life will be celebrated on February 24th, 2025, 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Woodland Park. Family and friends are invited to honor her legacy, share memories, and find comfort in the remarkable woman who meant so much to so many. Mountain Memorial Funeral Home is overseeing Barbara's arrangements.
Barbara will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love, light, and wisdom she shared with the world. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide those she leaves behind. Flying free in the arms of Bill, a love like no other!
