Barbara Stewart Obituary

Barbara (Timmie) Stewart passed away at her home in Sarasota on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Born in Colorado Springs, she was a long time resident of both Sarasota, Florida and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Widowed in 1988, she is survived by her brother, Dr. William Simmons, her daughters, Lorie and Peggy, son, Mike, stepdaughters, Dorrie and Jeni, her beau Harve Wolfe, and 5 grandkids. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends!

Graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School, she went on to Mills College and received her Masters in Ornithology from the University of Colorado. She was a talented artist, quilter, teacher and published author with a love of bonsai. Her superlative hand stitched quilts have been displayed in the Colorado State Capitol and Pioneer Museum.

A memorial service will be held on May 7th at 2 p.m. at the Covenant Life Presbyterian Church, 8490 Macintosh Road in Sarasota, Pastor Ken Aldrich presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara Stewart's name to the Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota at 941-487-3100 or Tiewell.org.

Although I didn't often have the opportunity to visit with Aunt Timmie, I always enjoyed it when I did. She was a classy lady and she had the best laugh! Lori and Peggy, I regret that I cannot be there for her memorial service, but I will be thinking of you all with fondness and love.
