Barbara Wood Obituary

Barbara Ann Wood, 68, met the Savior she faithfully served on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 4:30 PM. Barbara was born November 1, 1942, to Henry and Pearl Scott in Woodlake, CA, where she attended public schools. She married John R. Wood in Woodlake on July 2, 1960, and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage bound in God's love and mutual respect. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior in April, 1960, and for many years she and John enjoyed working together for the Lord: teaching Sunday School, organizing and participating in many church social functions, as well as cleaning the church. Two of Barbara's many special gifts were hospitality and cooking, using those talents for her family, friends, and church. One of the most special family memories is of Barbara preparing incredible meals for Sunday dinner and special occasions. These times will never be forgotten. In addition, she enjoyed her many travels with John throughout the United States, as well as their annual trip to Portland, OR, to attend the Apostolic Faith Camp Meeting. She was a homemaker and accomplished seamstress; she was a gracious and godly mother to her children and grandchildren and supported John as he operated Wood Brothers Construction, Inc. for over 40 years. Barbara's kindness, gentleness, and quiet wisdom touched her entire family and the many who had the privilege of knowing her. Barbara is survived by her husband John and their four daughters: Janice (Fred) Klauser, Sandy (Dave) Enns, Debra (Steve) Hopper, Cindie (Randy) Baltzell; eleven grandchildren Erik Klauser, Melany (Bryn) White, Derek, Janae and Hunter Enns, Joshua (Gabrielle) Enns, Mariah and Kelsey Hopper, Kylie, Austin and Hayden Baltzell; three great-grandchildren Jade, Sage and Reagan Enns; sisters Virginia Phinney of San Antonio, TX, and Minnie Lou Scott of Portland, OR; brother Carl Scott of Visalia, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Betty Bimat; brothers Jack Scott, and Henry Scott, Jr. Visitation will be from 12 noon till 1 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Trinity Apostolic Church. A service celebrating her life will be held at the Trinity Apostolic Faith Church located at 141 N. Acacia Street, Woodlake, at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 22, 2011. Interment to follow at Woodlake District Cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected]

I pray all who loved Barbara Ann will soon have peace and joy--knowing that she was such a Godly woman whose light will never dim. Her example will live on through you, her family, and those who knew and loved her. I will always remember her gentleness; yet, her strengths were many. I know she made the best German chocolate cake in the world! What a blessing she was. I know that one day we will stroll over Heaven with her! You are in my thoughts and prayers.
