Barry Bullard Obituary

Barry Bullard, of Port Ludlow, WA, formerly of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away at age 73, March 26, from complications following surgery in late January. Barry was born 12/26/1938 in North Bend, OR. After graduating from Marshfield High School in Coos Bay, the former Student Body President and twice Oregon All-State Football Tackle became part of Coach Jim Owens' first recruiting class at the University of Washington and starting strong tackle on the 1960 Husky Rose Bowl Team. Graduating in 1962 with a degree in civil engineering, Barry accepted a ROTC commission in the USAF serving honorably for 16 years until illness forced his medical retirement. His final Air Force assignment was at the U.S Air Force Academy. He received His MS degree in Astronautics and Space Facilities at the Air Force Insitute of Technology in 1968. Barry was a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star for service at Phu Cat AFB. Barry married the former Betty Martin of Longview, WA in 1961. They were divorced in 1990. In his retirement, Barry tutored middle school students in the Seattle School District and Chimicum School District. Barry was predeceased by his youngest son Brian in 1983. He is survived by his son, Bruce Bullard; grandson, Robert (Brandi) Bullard of Colorado Springs; granddaughter, LTjg Erika Bullard, USN, of Jacksonville, FL; his loving companion, Lynda McCurry of Port Ludlow, WA; and brother Tim (Susan) Bullard of Pousbo, WA. At Barry's request, no services will be held. A gathering of friends and former teammates will be announced later this Spring.

Bullard family and friends
I remember Barry when he worked at Penrose Hospital. We always bantered about our differences in political thinking. It was friendly and fun. He was a very nice guy. I'm sorry to hear that he has died at such a young age. My thoughts are with you all.
