So sorry to hear of your loss. Barry was always a classy guy and a true gentleman. I remember when my mother Dorothy would visit the Dowlings next door on Rosedale. Often we would visit with Barry and Veronica. I always thought, "What a great couple". I'm sure Barry will be sadly missed by many.

Like my brother, Carl, I too have many fond memories of your Dad! I loved having his Sunday breakfasts after attending Mass at Donlon Hall. And how he always teased about making sure my mother's painting was hung when we came over!! May memories like these bring you a smile in the midst of your sadness!!

To the Mayne family. My thoughts go out to you at the loss of this wonderful man. I was lucky to have been a neighbor to Barry, Veronica and their family when I lived on Rosedale Ave in the 1960s. I remember that Barry would pick up my children, his children and their dog Fritz in his old car and drive to do errands. Many times, he would just pop by to take all of the same to the park and it was at the park that someone noticed the dog Fritz going down the slide. My condolences to all of the Mayne family. I have many fond memories of Mr.Mayne from my time as a child growing up on Rosedale Ave in the sixties. One memory in particular comes to mind. I used to ride my tricycle around the block very early in the mornings. One day Mr. Mayne asked me to come over with my tricycle. I had no idea why. I brought it to him and he oiled all the wheels. I thought this was great. I didn't realize that the tricycle squeaked. I think Mr. Mayne was working the late shift at the Bridge and I would wake him up with my very squeaky tricycle. Looking back, I think this act was a very kind and sweet thing to do for a 5 or 6 year old boy. I got to bike around the block when I liked and he got his sleep. I feel very lucky to have had Mr. Mayne in my life.

My sympathy to Veronica and all of family; all my memories at Assumption seem to be happy and laughing. Sorry I'm not closer and can't be there for funeral.
