Beatrice Elder Obituary

Beatrice Bee (Ricker) Elder, 104 1/2 died peacefully at the Marshes of Skidaway Island, Savannah, Georgia on November 30, 2017. Beatrice lived a wonderful life. She was born in Pembroke, MA on April 28, 1913 to Lila Gould Ricker and Clarence A. Ricker. Beatrice lived most of her life in Hingham, MA and Chatham, MA. In 1935, she graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and married, Burton F. Elder, her husband of 55 years that summer. Her life was devoted to him and the care of his family medical practice in Hingham, MA. The practice was located in their 1840s home for years until he entered the full time practice of anesthesiology. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 82 years, spending her last years as a member of the Savannah Chapter. She was a member of the Hingham Congregational Church, the Chatham Congregational Church and the Skidaway Island Methodist Church. She was a great friend, very generous and kind. She was a superb cook who always had some goodie to share, such as her famous mint brownies! She is survived by her son, Dr. Bruce Elder, her daughter, Janet Elder Yeutter, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory would be appreciated for the Salvation Army Flood Relief Funds, Southern Territory, P.O.
