Becky Beasley Obituary

Becky Beasley (Martha Bessie Louise Johnson) passed away peacefully on December 14, 2015 in Colorado Springs, CO. at the age of 94. Becky was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman, her son Donald, and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Austin. She was also preceded in death by her five sisters and one brother, and has one surviving brother, Warren Johnson. She is survived by her son, Dennis, daughter-in-law Sherrie, as well as five grandchildren: Denise Beasley Foley, Kris Beasley, Patrick Beasley, Dana Beasley Riss, and Jay Beasley; and nine great-grandchildren.

Born January 2, 1921, in Pontiac, MI to Frank and Minnie [Jones] Johnson, Becky lived there until she was one when they moved to Colorado. Becky grew up in Niwot and Longmont. In 1939, Becky and Freeman married in a secret ceremony in Littleton, CO and a year later, they had their first son, Dennis, in Silverton CO. Two years later, in Leadville CO, they welcomed son Donald. The family travelled extensively throughout the west, living in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Washington, California, and Idaho.

After their sons left home, Becky and Freeman traveled throughout the world and moved frequently, living in Germany, New Zealand, California, Arizona, and Washington, but always calling Colorado home. Becky and Freeman moved to Colorado Springs CO in 1995, and a year later, Freeman passed away.

Becky remained in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her family, where she continued to travel extensively. Hawaii was a frequently visited and favorite spot of Becky's, and closer to home she loved drives in the mountains. For her 90th birthday, Becky, along with all of her family, visited Disney World for her first time and it was a joy for everyone.

Becky was an incredible woman who lived and rich and full life. She was supportive, loving, funny, always up for an adventure, and knew how to enjoy everything life had to offer. She will be very much missed and forever in our hearts.
