Bernadine Alpert Obituary

Bernadine (Thuro) Alpert, a 39 year resident of Colorado Springs, departed this world July 24, 2011 after a 2 Â½ year valiant fight with ovarian cancer. Bernadine was born at home June 23, 1936 in Cass County near Belton, Missouri. The family moved to Paola, Kansas when she was a young girl. She graduated from Paola High School. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and sewing. She worked and retired from School District 11. She will be remembered by her family and many friends as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by her husband Burl W. Alpert with whom she shared 55 years of marriage; their three daughters: Kathryn L. Finch of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Calleen M. Olson of Parker, Colorado, and Carla R. Marts of Sherwood, Oregon; three grandsons; 2 granddaughters; and 2 great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her siblings: Geo. Thuro of Costa Mesa, California; Lou Ellen Greiner of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Rose Lee Yarnell of Paola, Kansas; and Betty Jo Conley of Jacksonville, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Homer W. Thuro, and mother, Bertha Lou (Dobson) Thuro; and by her grandson, Logan M. Finch.
