One of The "FUNKIEST KEYBOARDIST THAT EVER LIVED!!" When you look up the term "Funk" in Webster's dictionary, you'll see a picture of Bernie Worrell!

I wish I had a chance to meet and talk with you. My father and grandfather were also musically inclined. You and your music will never be forgotten

A musical genius, who found my brother Tyrone Lampkin back in the late 60's early 70's. Who then became drummer for parliament -funkadelic. Of course he was the best drummer they ever had!. Bernie Worrell use to attend Hartford School of Music. He visited our home in Connecticut several times, had dinner and brought his lovely wife Judy over one time. We Loved Bernie and his love for music. My mother is a gospel singer, she, Tyrone and Bernie use to share some Gospel tunes. My Brother is gone now too, but he loved Bernie like a Brother. They both are missed today and yet their love of music still thrills the fan today, over 30+ years RIP Bernie and Tyrone

"The Tales of Kid Funkadelic " is my favorite "song" . Family and friends do not tarry long for Bernie is "Atmosphere" he is and always will be with us....

My most sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to the immediate and extended family of Mr. Bernie Worrell. I grew up listening to P-Funk. Those guys were light years ahead of time...musically. I saw George Clinton and P-Funk several years ago in Charlotte and they performed all night long (on a Thursday night mind you)!!! Bernie and Company knew how to "tear the roof of....". Mr. Worrell will always be acknowledged and respected as a highly talented musician with foresight, insight and hindsight that helped catapult the band to "Funka-fied" stardom. From Maggot Brain to CC (Chocolate City) to One nation under a groove...sheer GENIUS!!! Now that Mr. Bernie Worrell has crossed the bar (something all of us must do at life's end), we must loose him and let him go. To the Worrell family, thank you so very much for sharing the light that was Bernie to the world! He touched and will continue to touch untold lives through his gift of music. My older brother introduced my family to P-Funk rooted in the vibes of this keyboard Metlin whose infectious grooves rattled our bones. Bernie touched my 80 plus year old mother who still sways and bobs her head keeping the beat to the Wizard's digital dexterity. I have passed the love of Bernie's music on to my daughter! That being said he has departed this Earthly coil. Fly On Bernie Fly On!!!

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

Where will Dr. Worrell's service be? I live in Bellingham and was completely impressed by his influence /work in Funkadelic and T. Heads. Wish I could have met him, I didn't know he lived so close.

As a teen I grew up listening to Parliament Funkadelic. It was my favorite group at that time and to this day it's still one of favorite groups.

Bernie's musical genius and the joy he bought to countless fans will be sadly missed. The music he has given us will always keep him alive in our hearts.

Wow!!! I am sorry to hear of this loss. My older brother was such a huge fan of P-Funk, I never knew that George Clinton and Bootsy Collins came from the same group. You can tell I was younger. All the cool people are leaving us! Sheese, I used to skate, yes roller skate to Parliament. Bernie was part of a very original group. I give his family and friends all the love I feel right now, all the love Bernie gave through his music and being. Thanks to his generation, his talent, his passion, my generation found joy and peace. He has returned to the Great Sparkling Stream, as will we all.

Got to see him on my birthday, this past April 23rd at Jazzfest with Leo Nocentelli. Although his health was suffering, his playing definitely was not. Just wish they would have played longer so we could all have gotten one more giant dose of his incredible chops. RIP Bernie, your music lives on in all of our hearts and minds.
