BETH ANN (BRONDYKE) GIST
February 28th, 1966 - December 29th, 2020
The family and friends of Beth Gist mourn her passage in Colorado Springs, CO, after a mercifully brief battle with cancer. Beth Ann Brondyke was born in Detroit, MI, to Rollin and Margaret Brondyke. She subsequently lived in Sydney, OH, and later in Van Wert, OH, with her beloved grandmother, Lorna Mahoney. In 1982, she moved to Canyon, TX, where she graduated from West Texas A&M University in 1988 to become an educator, her lifelong passion. There she met Robert Gist and they married on March 17, 1989. They moved to Austin, TX, and later lived in Gaithersburg, MD, Torrance, CA, and eventually settled in Colorado Springs in 2000, where they resided together until her death.
Beth was a dedicated and proud mother to two daughters, Alaina and Emily. A loving spouse to Robert, she remained connected to extended family and was a fiercely loyal friend. After raising her girls, she pursued her self-affirmed purpose of children's education, returning the gift given to her. For 17 years she excelled as a 7th grade language arts teacher at Horizon Middle School in Colorado Springs. She inspired thousands of middle-schoolers and made treasured, lifelong friends there and within the community.
Beth is survived by her immediate family, husband Robert Gist, and daughters Alaina Gist, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Emily Gist, of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by older sister Lori (John) Allaire of Tampa, FL, older brother Greg (Kris) Brown of Batesville, IN, and younger brother Rollin Brondyke of Richmond, VA. Beth's father, Rollin Brondyke, also survives her. Beth was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Brondyke.
