Betty Hastings Obituary

Betty (Barbara) Hastings, 84, passed away June 28, 2007 after a short illness. She was born December 1, 1922 in Wolnzach, Germany to Isicor and Barbara (Harth) Raith. On August 25, 1947 Betty married the love of her life, Dean Edward Hastings, Jr. The small everyday things in life were her joy. She experienced the days in Germany during World War II and then fell in love with an American soldier. Her husband had a career in the army so life was always on the move and there were too many times when she was raising her children by herself. She always managed to get through the tough spots and never complained much of her own pains while trying to keep the family problems as small as possible. She wanted to be with her husband and now, after a couple of years, she will be with him again; her family will miss her dearly. Betty is survived by her children, Edward Hastings, Rudy D. Hastings, Robert L. Hastings and Barbara H. Hastings; seven grandchildren, Brandon L. Hastings, Mathew M. Hastings, Heather A. Hastings, Timothy D. Hastings, Christopher L. Hastings, Codie L. Hastings and Amber L. Hastings; and five great-grandchildren, Maja S. Hastings, Nadja L. Hastings, Tyrus L. Hastings, Cailyn A. Thomas and Timothy D. Hastings, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dean. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Security with a luncheon to follow. Graveside services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area A at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.
