After high school he worked at the Martin Drake plant as a laborer before joining the Army for a tour in Germany. Bev was an accomplished jazz drummer, playing in the Cotton Club and as a member of the Army Drum and Bugle Core. His love of Jazz was never far from his heart. He returned to work at the Drake plant and became the Superintendent of the Electric Production division before retiring in 1984. Bev loved sports and was an avid official at the high school and collegiate level for basketball, baseball, football & tennis. Later in life Bev found his calling as a massage therapist specializing in Trager Massage which he shared through the Pikes Peak Hospice for 20 years as well as in private practice. His soft loving touch was a balm for innumerable souls. He loved to bike, riding tens of thousands of miles in the US and Europe with his wife Carol. He also inspired and led the Ascension Lutheran Holy Peddlers biking group planning routes and leading rides until he was eighty-one; the group has continued to ride. Bev was a longtime fan of auto racing and took his family to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb for many years. He was able to fulfill a lifelong dream by attending the Indianapolis 500 multiple times in his 70s. Bev was a kind man who was guided by his deep and unwavering faith in the Lord, was always willing to help, and was loved by innumerable people through his volunteer work and willingness to jump into any situation and lend a hand. He will be missed by all.
