Past Master Brooks transitioned in spirit on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Brooks was born in Itta Bena, Mississippi on May 1, 1937 in the blissful union of his parents Henderson C. Brooks and Pearl Jordan-Brooks. He was married to Idella Greer Brooks on July 17, 1959 in Danville, IL. They were married for 57 glorious years and traveled the world together, while serving in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Brooks graduated from Hughes High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he excelled in basketball, football, and track & field. Past Master Brooks also excelled in his academics, graduating in the upper 15% of his class. He entered the United States Airforce in 1954 and served 26 years of distinguished service. Past Master Brooks is a well decorated Vietnam Veteran who was a member of the famed 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing, while stationed at Bien HOA Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. He retired from NORAD Air Defense Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 30, 1980. After retirement from the Military, he was briefly employed with the Board of Education, School District 11 in Colorado Springs, and worked from January 1981 to June 1984 as a Veteran's Benefit Counselor at the United States Air Force Academy, where he served as the Chief of the Microform Service Center and as a Contracting Officer. He retired from the Air Force Academy in May of 1997.
Past Master Brooks was raised to the subline degree of Master Mason in North Star Lodge #113, in November 1972 while stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota (Kansas Jurisdiction). In 1973, while stationed at RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, England, he demitted into Harmony Lodge #125 (Maryland Jurisdiction). From England, Past Master Brooks was transferred to Ramstein Air Base, Germany to serve as a Management Inspector on the Headquarters Unites States Forces Europe (USAFE), Inspector Generals, (IG) team. While in Germany PM Brooks became an Associate Member of Ernest W. Lyons Lodge #107 (Maryland Jurisdiction). Additionally, while stationed in Germany, Past Master Brooks received his 32nd degree, August 1976 (Oklahoma Jurisdiction).
Past Master brooks carried membership in the Great Western Consistory #34, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has served as Past Potentate of Kadesia Temple #135, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Past Imperial Organizer of the Desert of Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. He has held offices in the Charles O. Green Shrine Club and served as Advisor to the Daughters of Isis Kadesia Court. Past Master Brooks has received honors and recognition as the Shriner of the Year, Noble of the Year, and the Council of Legion of Honor award. Past Master Brooks served as Worshipful Master for Pikes Lodge #5 during calendar years 1999 and 2000. In 1999 he won Worshipful Master of the Year award for Colorado and its Jurisdiction. In October 1983. Past Master Brooks was elevated to the 33 rd degree in Little Rock, Arkansas (Southern Jurisdiction).
Past Master Brooks is an active Member of Friendship Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he has served in numerous positions since the 1970's. Past Mater Brooks is the father of 5 children, grandfather to 13, and great-grandfather to 11. He is survived by Daughter Valerie Anderson-Stallworth and husband Willie who reside in Land O Lakes, Florida, Daughter Debra Lewis residing in Tampa, Florida, Son William "Joey" Brooks who resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Daughter Grace Denise Connelly, and husband Marty who reside in Aurora Colorado, and Daughter Yvonne Bailey, who resides in Ohio. He also leaves behind a host of loving and supportive nieces, nephews, spirit sons and daughters, and many, many life-long friends and family members.
Past Master Brooks is proceeded in death by his loving parents, Henderson C. and Pearl Jordan-Brooks, his Wife of 57 years, Idella Greer Brooks, Sisters, Carrie Veasley and Alberta "Toot" Hicks, and Brother Isaiah "Ike" Brooks.
Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory located at 1104 S. Circle Drive Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 on March 8, 2021. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery located at 1005 Hancock Expy, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 on March 8, 2021 at 3:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be live streamed via

The Buckley AFB military Retiree Activities Office (RAO) would like to offer our sincere condolences and our gratitude for Mr. Brooks' 26 years of service to our country in the Air Force. If you would like help with any matters related to casualty assistance, Defense Finance & Accounting Service, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Veterans Affairs (VA), etc. you can contact our office on Buckley AFB at 720-847-6693. The RAO is staffed by volunteers, all military retirees themselves, and our sole purpose is to provide assistance to any military retirees and surviving spouses/family members with anything related to their military service and/or benefits, in particular during difficult times such as this. We are deeply sorry for your loss.
