Bill Moritz Obituary

Bill Moritz
May 2, 1951
March 16, 2024

Bill Moritz, a man of unwavering faith and tireless dedication, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024. His courageous battle with pancreatic cancer over the past four months was a testament to his resilience and spirit.
Bill earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri. He met his wife Mary Lee Martin in 1975 and they welcomed four children together. In 1985, Bill earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the O.W. Coburn School of Law, embarking on a major career change and path that would impact countless lives.
Bill joined The Navigators, and established his private law practice, Moritz and Associates, in Colorado Springs in 1985. His passion for service and philanthropy led him to co-found the New Horizons Foundation in 1989, an organization dedicated to empowering others.
Tragedy struck in 1998 when Bills daughter Breanna Joy was killed in a car accident. From this heart-wrenching loss emerged a mission: the Joy to the World Foundation Thailand. Bill and Mary Lee founded this anti-trafficking ministry, working tirelessly to protect vulnerable children and families in northern Thailand. Bill also established the Joy to the World Foundation, a nonprofit helping families and ministry professionals multiply the impact of their generosity.
Bill loved to coach his children's sports and was an avid fan of any activity his grandchildren participated in. Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and impact. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, their three children—Joni, Josh, and Amy—along with their spouses, and 11 cherished grandchildren. As he ascends to heaven, he is joyfully reunited with his youngest daughter, Breanna Joy.
May his memory continue to inspire us to live with purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodmen Valley Chapel on Friday April 26th at 1pm.

Bill and Mary Lee are very dear friends. We met them first when I had the privlilege of teaching first Joni then Amy and finally the baby Brianna piano and voice. What a lovely and joyful family!! Later Bill and Mary Lee came to our home to lead songs praise and prayer. Later Bill was our attorney for our Trust Fund. We both lost a child at different times. The loss of Brianna was devastating!
I will always love and appreciate the Moritz family led beautifully by Bill Moritz. A hero of faithSincerely, Gail and John Carpenter
