My prayers are with the family and the children for their loss.

I am lost for words after reading of Billy's death this morning. I'll always remember his friendship to me when we lived in Kew Gardens NY. To both his children, know your daddy was very proud of both of you.

To the entire Costello family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers in your most difficult time. You don't know me however a man that I love dearly was a friend of Billys and I know how much Billy meant to him. I listen to the stories about him in his youngers years from Buddy and I smile. It was good to see you that day you went around the neighborhood and you passed my home. And as God would have it I was out in the yard and had a chance to talk to you, little did I know that it would be my last conversation and kiss. R. I. P. Billy.

Champ you will be missed dearly. You were an insperation to all us boxers.R.I.P

To the Costello family...My heartfelt condolences go out to your entire family along with the circle of friends that Billy acquired. I grew up in California watching Billy on TV and was a huge fan of his, and then from time to time I would go online to see what he was up to with all of his volunteer work etc., the fact that he came back to live in Kingston to help others when he could have bought a house and lived anywhere else shows the kind of character that he had. I found out this morning that the Lord requested Billy's services, and Billy accepted. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very difficult time, may God Bless. R.I.P. Billy.

Our thoughts and prayers go Billy's family. I have followed him for 6 yrs for a different reason than others. I have learned that he was kind man making changes to better a wonderful community and to keep kidos out.of trouble. May Billy's spirit be carried on and keep what he has started moving on.

Billy leaves a legacy of more than the champion fighter from Kingston, he was a positive force in our community. The loss of a spirit that wont be forgotten any time soon. Rest peacefully Billy.

I fought in the NYC Golden Gloves the same year as Billy, and was at one of his early pro bouts at the Nassau Colisium in 1979. Billy was a great fighter, and an even greater person outside the ring! (RIP BIlly) Tony Massaro (Bethpage, N.Y.)

Billy and his brothers, sisters grew up with my family together in downtown Kingston, I have know him for over 45 years and he has always had a smile and never had anything bad to say about anybody.. When I haven't seen him for a very long time and then saw him at the midtown center watching his son Brandon play ball and i was refing the games their we talked as if we were never apart.. You will always be the champ to me and will always be in my heart.. I love you like a brother Billy

Sympathies to your family.

In the mid-70's, I was a highschool kid in Monticello, NY. My dad used to take us to the occasional fights held at Monticello Raceway, which usually had stables of fighters from Floyd Patterson's and other's gyms. We clearly remembered seeing Billy score a 40-second knock-out, and knowing there was a professional future. We were thrilled to later follow his career. Rest in Peace Billy...

I send condolences to Billy's family and loved ones. I knew Billy from Gleason's Gym when it was in Manhattan, and later when it moved to Brooklyn. I had the utmost respect for him as both a person and a fighter. He was a true champion. May God rest his soul.

I loved Billy like a brother and we were very close friends for many years. He lived with me and my two sons in NC for about a year in 1996 and my youngest son idolized Billy. I send my deepest heartfelt condolences to all of you. I will be there next Wed and Thursday for the wake and funeral. God bless Billy and all of you!
