Billy Johnson Obituary

Billy Johnson 45, departed this life on July 12, 2007 at a local hospital surrounded by his family. Billy attended Shakespeare Elementary School where he graduated and obtained a love for sports. He proceeded on to Martin Luther King High School, and graduated with a sports scholarship. due to Billy's outstanding sports performance, specifically baseball, he was scouted to play for the Kansas City Royals. He rejected this offer due to his commitment he made with the United States Army. Billy served twelve years in the United States Army, where he traveled throughout the fifty states and overseas. Billy and his true love Mary Anderson moved to Colorado Springs to begin their lives together. Due to the love he had for his high school sweetheart, Billy exchanged vows with Mary Anderson on January 20, 1983. Billy's life truly began after the marriage. He demonstrated this by showing his love for his family and friends. Billy was an outgoing people person. He was a good-hearted person who spoke his mind. Billy was always willing to help anyone in need. He had an old-fashioned keen way of lending a hand and spreading happiness. Billy brought joy and happiness to the lives of everyone he touched. He was full of entertainment. One could not help but to see the deep dimples in his cheeks as he cracked jokes followed by a smile which made people laugh. Billy's uniqueness was due to his love for children. His desire was to have a large family of his own, with lots of grandchildren. In celebration of love, the Lord blesses Billy and Mary with one daughter and two sons. His second wish was granted with the birth of his first grandson Devonte Johnson, on December 7, 2006, whom he adored dearly. His daughter Marissa is due to deliver his second grandson Javian Swain on October 6, 2007. Billy was over zealous after learning the news of his daughter's pregnancy. He bragged daily as he waited impatiently for the arrival of his new grandbaby. We know that he will be with Marissa as he spread his warmth in the delivery room. Billy's children consumed majority of his personal time, as well as sports. Billy was a true heart athlete. Up until his reunion, Billy still actively played softball, baseball, and basketball. In returning him to our Lord and Savior, Billy will be greatly missed by his family, friend and co-workers at ATMEL Communications as we hold him in our thought, hearts, and prayers. Billy leaves to cherish his precious memories his mother, Emma Brisco, father, Sol Jones, his loving children, one daughter; Marissa Johnson (Alabama); two sons; Billy Johnson (Colorado); Marcus Johnson (Colorado); One grandson Davonte Johnson (Colorado); and his beloved Mary Johnson (Texas); several brothers and sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday July 18, 2007 at Angelus Funeral Directors, 2535 Airport Rd. I did not know Billy personally, but once in a while I would see him in the hallway are hard at work. But he and I would sometimes give the cook a hard time about the grits.

Like many others it is hard to believe that he is gone.

May God keep you and bless you is my prayer to the Johnson family.
