Blythe Stevens Obituary

Steve was born in Middlebranch, Nebraska to Willis and Gladys Stevens. He is survived by his brother: Leland (Ginny) Stevens; sons: Jerrold Stevens and Mark (Linda) Stevens; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 66 years: Marjorie (Jorgenson) Stevens sisters: Orel Bellin and Dorothy Stevens; and brother: Curtis Stevens. Blythe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was an avid sportsman, participating in hunting, fishing, skiing, golf and aviation, having built one airplane, an RV-6, and buying one, in which he and his wife logged many hours. LIFE WAS GOOD. He flew 53 missions over Europe in World War II as a pilot, US Army Air Corps, and in the late 1940s while stationed in the Panama Canal Zone at France Army Air Corps Base. He also had a tour with the Icelandic Air Defense Force at Iceland and a four year tour as Advisor to the Puerto Rican Air National Guard in Puerto Rico. His final assignment was in Colorado Springs, Colorado, first in ADC's Inspector Generals office and later to the J-6 section Headquarters NORAD. He and his wife fell in love with the Springs, so upon retirement in 1968, they made Colorado Springs their final home. When he retired from the military, where he had served as electronics engineer as well as Command Pilot, he entered the Real Estate Profession and owned his own corporation. After 12 years in the business, he and his wife wanted to travel so they sold and traveled to Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, Caribbean and Europe. They covered the United States, Mexico, Canada and Alaska by Motor Home. During this time he was elected to the position of President of the Winnebago Motor Home Club. Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Steve and Margie were not only cousins to my parents, but were just like a mom and dad to me and my family. They invited us into their home several times and we tried to reciprocate the same. I am so glad that we got to spend time with Steve during this EAA in Oshkosh. I will me him, them, very much. Had many loving memories. Our sympathy goes out to Jerry and Mark and their families.
