Bobby Evans Obituary
September 10, 1929 - February 23, 2008. Mr. Bobby Evans, a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Colorado Springs after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eddie Evans and Mildred Louise Gaar Evans of Ruston, Louisiana. Mr. Evans is survived by his devoted and loving wife of fifty-six years, Mary Ann Davis Evans; daughter Barbara Evans Hebert and husband Frederic of Greenville, North Carolina; and daughter Laura Evans Courter of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was "Bebob" to grandson Davis Hebert and wife Tammy of Charlotte, North Carolina; granddaughter Mary Hebert Dawson and husband Brian of Winterville, North Carolina; granddaughter Emilie Hebert Williams and husband Jamie of Charleston, South Carolina; grandchildren Neal and Leah Courter of Baton Rouge; and great-grandson Evan Dawson of Winterville. He was born on September 10, 1929 in Ruston, where he spent his childhood, graduating from Ruston High School in 1946. He married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Ann Davis, on January 29, 1952, in Ruston, where they resided until moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1957. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his return, he earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in Ruston and an M.B.A. from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, both degrees being conferred in 1959. A gifted businessman, he became a C.P.A. in 1961. He worked for some years at several accounting firms before establishing his own partnership business, Brydels & Evans, in Baton Rouge. He served his clients with exceptional skill, devotion, and integrity throughout his seventeen year career, retiring in 1976 due to health concerns. He and his wife moved to Colorado Springs in 1989, where he was active in the El Paso Club and the Garden of the Gods Club. Mr. Evans loved his family deeply and his primary concern throughout his life was for their happiness and well-being. He was well-known for his eternally optimistic outlook on life, dependability, genial personality, and trademark chuckle. A life-long fisherman, one of his favorite activities was to spend time in his boat on Pueblo Reservoir. He relished dominoes and card games of all kinds, especially bridge and poker, and he looked forward eagerly to his weekly poker games with his buddies. He also loved jeeping in the mountains, ice cream and chocolate and enjoyed laughing along with the Andy Griffith Show and television judge shows. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 28, at Swan Law Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday, February 29th at 2 pm at Grace Church. Father Eric Zolner will officiate.
