Bobby McKennon Obituary

Bobby Harold McKennon, 71, a resident of the Colorado Springs, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 after short battle with cancer. He was born September 8, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Harold and Willie McKennon. He retired from the US Army in 1974 with honors after serving in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. In 1995 he retired a second time as Deputy Chief at Fort Carson Fire Dept. He gave over 40 years to the United States Government. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, he really enjoyed going with his wife to Cripple Creek and spending time with his family and dog Levita. He is survived by his wife Carole Jean McKennon: daughters, Trina McKennon of Colorado Springs, CO, Tonya (Terry) Shaw of La Junta, CO, Tammy (Paul) Higginbotham of San Antonio, TX: granddaughters, Samantha Shaw of Colorado Springs, CO, and Stephanie Shaw of La Junta, CO,: Sister, Jay (Gerald) Brittain and numerous nieces and nephews. He married Carole Jean Hagan Sept. 15, 1962 (44 years). He also was preceded in death by his four brothers and by three of his sisters. He was our hero, and we hope to always live up to his expectations. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Firefighters Fund. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 1st, 2006, at Soldiers Memorial Chapel, Fort Carson, CO.
