Bonita Hanson Obituary

Bonita "Bonnie" Jo Brown Berg Hanson was born on May 5, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harvey and Ann Brown. Bonnie had two sisters and four brothers.  She died peacefully on May 12, 2005. Bonnie was preceded in death by her first husband, Jay Dee Berg of Marquette, KS; a grandson, Brandon Jay Hitt; her parents; a brother, Charles H. Brown, of Pueblo, CO; and niece, Ann Marie Voelker of Palmer Lake. She is survived by her husband, Duane Hanson of Palmer Lake; a son, Eric J. Berg and his wife, Ann of Manhattan, KS; and a daughter, Kristine A. Berg of Loveland, CO. Her four grandchildren: Kaylie Hogan-Schnittker, Dustin Benny Hitt, Lily Kirsten Berg and Emily Ann Berg filled her life with great joy. Also survived by sister, Judy Voelker of Palmer Lake; brother, Butch of Milwaukee and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was compassionate both in her professional and personal endeavors. On numerous occasions, she would go out of her way to bring joy to others. Perhaps a thoughtful card or note and a timely visit to a neighbor in need. Always it was done with little fanfare and great sincerity. Bonnie lived her life with passion and fullness.  Twice defeating breast cancer, Bonnie coped with these challenges without giving in to despair and self-pity. She was a caring and loving person who touched everyone she met. She found joy, true joy in the simple gifts. An afternoon with a grandchild. Gentle breezes. Lilacs in spring and hummingbirds. True joy is the ability to allow God's love to simply pass through you to be observed and felt by another.  Bonnie had that gift. She was a skilled and valued business woman who made significant contributions to the residents of Palmer Lake, as the office manager of the Palmer Lake Sanitation District. She was a passionate and diligent professional and cared deeply about the townspeople. Her acumen and wisdom will be missed. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Pinecrest Chapel followed by a community potluck luncheon at Pinecrest Event Center, 106 Pinecrest Way, Palmer Lake. Memorial contributions can be made in Bonnie's name to: Susan G. Komen Foundation, 1835 Franklin Street, Denver, CO, 80218. Alternatively, memorials may also be made to Mountain Community Mennonite Church, Mtn Com Transportation Seniors, P.O. Box 502, Palmer Lake, CO 80133.

What a wonderful person. I will miss your smiling face and your laughter. You are at peace and in no more pain.I pray your family will be able to find peace as well and be able to remember the joy and the good times and be able to smile once again. My love to all of you and know I care and I am here for all of you.

Bonnie will truly be missed. She always had a smile on her face and was a very caring person. I will miss our run ins at the safeway to catch up on everyone and will always rember the last time I saw her there, she was telling me all about her new "baby"(puppy)and how much joy she felt with it. The family was really blessed to have such a wondeful person in their lives. She may be gone but never forgotten.
