Bonnie Barnes Obituary

Bonnie Barnes, one of the most special people on this earth, 85, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 23rd.

Although she spent most of her life in Austin, Texas, she moved to Colorado Springs in 2007 to be closer to her daughter. Liberty Heights Retirement Community became her extended family - she loved everyone there - the residents as well as each and every staff member. There is no greater group of people. Thank you for making Bonnie feel so loved and to the Liberty Heights staff for taking such good care of her.

We also want to thank Dr. Frank Barry, Dr. Christian Simpfendorfer and the doctors and nurses at Penrose Main hospital for their exceptional medical care. The greatest comfort for her daughter was the volunteer group, No One Dies Alone, who sat with Bonnie overnight so the family could have a much needed break at the hospital. We will be forever grateful to all the kindness and compassion shown to Bonnie.

Bonnie was such a compassionate person all her life and we were grateful for all the kindness shown to her when she needed it.

We love and miss you mom!

My deepest condolences for your great loss. I too lost my father & God gave me the strength to cope with my grief. Jeremiah 29:12 says: 'And you will call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.' Please allow him to do the same for you.

So sorry to hear about your mom. She was such a great woman. I always remember her teaching me how to sew clothes. Traci, kaden and Travis Lutz and Fran and Allen Green

I will greatly miss you Mama Barnes. All the fun times we had...me, you and Sandy. All the times you drove us to the mall and the movies. You were like a second mother to me. I love you and will see you in heaven. Love, Kim Harden-Utterberg
