Brian Grassi Obituary

Brian William Grassi, 49, entered the loving arms of God on September 4, 2008. He was born on October 30, 1958 in Glen Cove, NY. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Twenhafel) of Colorado Springs and his mother, Lola Franse and her husband, Charles of Maryville, TN; as well as his cherished sister, Deborah Stokes and her husband S. David Stokes of Bentonville, AK. He is the beloved uncle of Morgann Leigh Grassi, also of Bentonville; devoted nephew of Lisa (Ciocchi) Neglia and Walter Neglia of Vermont; S. Robert Grassi and Gloria Grassi of Boca Raton, FL; Nello and Sandra Corini of Pelham, NY; and Mario and Anne Corini also of Pelham, NY; as well as many loving family members and friends. Brian served his country in the Air Force for more than 20 years as a healthcare administrator. He served in the Persian Gulf War, as well as other foreign deployments. He was a highly decorated officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Brian loved the outdoors, especially hiking in the Colorado Rockies. He also loved animals: Dogs lucky enough to be in the Grassi Pack were very blessed. Brian was a fun-loving person who was a rugged individual and a strong and loving presence for his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the outdoor chapel at Mountain Wilderness Memorial Park, 118 Arapahoe Ave, Woodland Park, CO. Please dress accordingly. In lieu of flowers, donations to Care and Share Food bank, 2520 Aviation Way, Colorado Springs, CO 80916 or Dream Power Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 62923, Colorado Springs, CO 80962. Arrangements are by Mountain Memorial Funeral Home, 51 CR 5, Divide, CO 80814.

To Karen and the Grassi family, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Lt Col Grassi. He was a mentor to me and great Medical Service Corps Officer. My prayers go out to you Karen and your family. He was a gracious man and he always looked out for me as well as others in our Air Force careers. He will always hold a special place in my heart as he made quite an impact on my life and career. God Bless and watch over you through this difficult time. Respectfully,

Mark Stevenson

I had the privilege of working with Brian on the Pikes Peak Healthcare Executives and the Colorado Association of Healthcare Executives. Brian was always involved, unselfish, friendly and cared for his peers and colleagues. Brian will be missed. Our prayers are with Brian and his family during this difficult time.

I was so very sorry to hear about Lt Col Grassi's passing. We worked together at Peterson to get through a difficult JCAHO initial inspection and he was a terrific resource. My sympathies to you all.
