Brian Hammond Obituary

Brian Hammond, age 69, passed away on May 13, 2016 at the Pikes Peak Hospice Residence in Colorado Springs. He entered the Air Force for a career in Meteorology where he served for twenty-one years. He served in Spain, Greenland, Korea and various stations in the United States. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for various Government Contractors as a Computer Programmer. Brian began attending Calvary Worship Center where he re-dedicated his life. Brian was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, teacher, student, and friend to many.

Brian Douglas Hammond was born on September 18, 1946 in Garden City, California to the late Jaxon and Marina (Johnson) Hammond. He attended High School in Kansas and College in Lindsborg, Kansas.

He married Thelma McClendon on December 28, 2006 in Colorado Springs. He was a talented photographer and loved reading (he wore out three Kindles). He enjoyed watching movies, especially all of the NCIS episodes. He was a teacher at Colorado Technical University before moving to Fairfax, Virginia in July 2007, to work for Raytheon. After retiring and returning to Colorado Springs in July 2014, he began pursuing his Doctorate in Computer Science at Colorado Technical University.

He is survived by his wife: Thelma and his daughters: Michelle (George) Crago and Rebecca Hammond, and two grandchildren.

Visitation, 6:00 - 8:00PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.

Memorial service, 10:00AM, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Calvary Worship Center, 501 Castle Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.

A reception will follow at the Village Condominiums Clubhouse.

Private interment service will be held at a future date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
