BROOKE DENISE
(FISHER) SQUIRES
January 6, 1949
April 1, 2024

Brooke Squires, 75, passed away peacefully following complications from a stem cell transplant, fighting a blood cancer disorder. A warrior to the end, she will be eternally remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to all that knew her. She was born in Burbank, CA and grew up in Alameda, CA. A phenomenal dancer and dance instructor, Brooke was selected as a Dean Martin Golddigger during her senior year of college at San Jose State University. Beyond television, she taught with the Alberta Ballet Company and later choreographed the Oakland Raiderettes. As a student at the American Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco, she was lead to numerous "extra" parts in movies. She was the only redheaded roller-skating carhop in American Graffiti, and could be seen in Topgun, No Way Out, Broadcast News, Gardens Of Stoneand other movie extra scenes.

Brooke met and fell in love with a Navy Ensign in 1973. Married in 1975, Brooke and Monte A. Squires ( Captain, USN, Ret.) traveled the world with military duty stations from the San Francisco Bay Area to Colorado Springs, Colorado, retiring in 1997. In between, two beautiful daughters were blessed to the family as military moves took them from Alameda to Guam, San Diego, Washington D.C., back to San Diego, Newport, RI, Colorado Springs, Jacksonville, FL, and finally retirement back in Colorado Springs. Brooke even produced a television program in the D.C. area called Fairfax Magazine.

Additional passions included politics as a delegate to the Democratic State Convention, Southern Colorado's representative to Moms Demand Action (gun sense in America), volunteering at the American Red Cross and work at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

Brooke is survived by Monte her husband of 49 years, daughters Courtney Carr (Andrew) of Niceville, FL and Lauren Chorey (Nathan) of North Lake Tahoe, CA. Their seven grandchildren in order of birth are Finley and Benton Carr, Jonathan Paul "JP" Chorey, Jackson Carr, Colton Chorey, Wyatt Carr and Harper Chorey. She was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Elizabeth Fisher. A Celebration of Life will be held in Colorado Springs at a future date and in lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a gift to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or possibly a blood donation.

I just learned of Brooke Fisher Squires passing. I was her and Monte´s paperboy delivering the Pacific Daily News on NAS Agana Guam back in the mid 1970s. I was 13 years old but for the past almost 50 years I have remembered her as such a gracious and kind "customer " of the PDN. I still have my paper bag still now as I´m 62 years old.
God bless your family and for her life being kind to a 13 year old kid.
