Burl Strutton Obituary

Burl David Strutton, 99 years young, left this life on January 24, 2013 leaving behind scores of loving family and friends. A wonderful man, Burl's sense of humor and gentle wit will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have been around him. A life-long roofer by trade, Burl once owned his own roofing company in Kansas, eventually retiring as a manager at Heyse Sheet Metal and Roofing Company in Colorado Springs. Burl was keenly interested in the old West and loved Native American history. An avid collector of American Indian arrow heads, Burl's collection ran into hundreds of pieces. Burl and his wife Nona would travel far and wide in search of arrow heads and other artifacts. Burl was one of the longest attending members of the Pike's Peak Church of Christ in Colorado Springs. Burl is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Friestuhler, daughter Diana (Lee) Bryant and husband Norman, grand-daughter Trudy Robin Nestor and husband Roger, grand-daughters Donelda Tafoya, Victoria Lynn Sargent and Rene Garcia and husband Mike, great grandson Jessie Nestor and wife Stephanie, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Burl was preceded in death by his parents William and Zylpha Strutton, his first wife Viola, his second wife Nona, sister Wilma Ryun, and brothers Merril Strutton, Earl Strutton, and Lloyd Strutton.
