Byron Akers Obituary

We thank the Lord for Byron's faithful friendship both to our Dad, Irving, and to our whole family. He was an overcomer. And a very practical man. A caring man. A man of faith. We want to bless all of his family now, and to be thankful for Byron's life. From, The Howbert Family.

Saddened to learn of the death of my good friend and professional colleague. Byron and I shared many experiences over 40 years, professional and otherwise. His Christian walk was an inspiration to me and many others. Intelligence, integrity and a sensitive nature were hallmarks of his life. He will be missed. It was truly a privilege to have shared this life with him.

I met Byron and Laverne in 1967 when they
were on the Young Life board. I was the new
Young Life staff person, and they were so
wonderful to me. Byron was always so graceious - a truly godly man.

Mr. Akers was a wonderful man. I worked for him with Cindi at Pixieland Mini GOlf in the late 70s. He was always so kind to us, and I will be forever grateful that he gave me my first job. God Bless You All.

We met Byron when my husband Ron joined the law firm as a very young and inexperienced attorney. No one could have had better mentors than Byron with his kindness, gentle sense of humor, and view of the law profession as "ministery" and his dear friend Jack Foutch who taught fairness & toughness. LaVerne was equally wonderful to me. Byron's absence will be felt by so many. There wasn't a person he interacted with that didn't feel his warm humanity.

Dear Byron,
I met you while I was working at Ghost Town Museum at my first summer job. Ghost Town always made me feel like I was part of a family that could only be complete with an amazing grandfather. I will miss sneaking you popcorn.

Dear Byron, I met you in 2004 when I started working at Ghost Town Museum. You would come in & check on us when Dave was out of town. Sometimes you would just come in to say hi & get some popcorn. You were always so kind & always had something funny to say.
I remember going to Breakfast with Carol at Bon Tons & you would be there with your gentlemen friends. You would always come to our table to say Hi.
When I started working at Penrose Hospital you & Lavern would come in to eat in the cafeteria & would look for me there just to ask me how I was doing. You would always tell me if I ever needed anything to be sure to go to you for help.
I will always remember your smiling face, kind words & you calling me Marliss.
Though I will miss you I am happy knowing you are pain free and at peace now.
You Have made this world a brighter place with your presence and I thank you for that. Love You

I am deeply saddened at the loss of such a wonderful man. Byron meant so very much to a lot of people and I will remember him forever. Byron, you are loved so very much.

Bill and I met Byron through our three boys working for him at Ghost Town. What a wonderful man and boss to the boys. So many happy memories they have.
He was so easy to talk to and always had such a big smile.

Dear LaVerne and Family: I pray that God will give you confort in this time of great loss. Those of us left here suffer the pain of his leaving but Byron is no longer in pain. He is celebrating with Jesus and looking forward to the day that we will join him. Byron was not only my mentor but was (and still is) my guide in the practice of law. In my dealings with every client over my 32 years of practice, I have always asked myself: "How would Byron handle this issue." Byron was a great attorney, but more importantly, he was a wonderful man and the best friend anyone could ever have. God bless you and your entire family.

I first met Byron in 1982 while working for his parents at the Ghost Town Museum. I was one of 3 brothers who worked for the Akers. He was certainly one of the kindest persons I've known and it saddens me at the loss. My warmest thoughts and prayers for the family.

My heart goes out to each of you at this time. Byron, being a college buddy and faithful friend of our father, was like a second father to me in many ways. He was, indeed, a gentleman. I will always think of him as a man of true greatness who, as a lover and follower of Jesus Christ often sacrificed his own interests for the good of others. It seems whenever we met he must have aimed, first, to make me smile--and also, invariably, to share something of significance which would challenge me, make me think, remind me of God's character, or somehow make me a better person. Thank you, Byron, for faithfully building us all up in love! We love you!!!--and miss you dearly.

To the Family of Mr. Akers . . . I met Mr. Akers during the time I worked at Holland and Hart. The kind words in this obiturary are so true, about how kind and gentle he was. He always seemed to have a smile and a pleasant conversation ready to go. He has touched many lives and will be sadly missed!

I knew Byron as an excellent attorney and businessman, and my life is certainly richer for the encounters, as brief as they may have been. He will be remembered in the professional communities.

Dear Byron.. I met you while working for your parents back in 1979..... i am now 49, which is how old you were at that time. You have helped me thru some personal issues which I will never forget till my last days... thus You have been a father figure to me. My heart is heavilly saddened because I have lost my friend as well. I will miss watching laurel and Hardey with you, and eating fargos pizza... someday I will see you again, thank you for being a part of my life.... I love you
