Byron Groseclose Obituary

Dr. Byron Clark Groseclose Jr.
Nov, 21, 1957-Nov. 4, 2012
Resident of Brentwood
Dr. Byron Clark Groseclose, Jr. passed from this life Nov. 4, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Byron was an extraordinary father, son, husband, brother and friend. He has been a beacon of strength as he fought so courageously against many illnesses. He never lost hope and kept his sense of humor through his many trials.
Byron graduated from Liberty High School in Brentwood and attended Los Medanos College where he graduated with honors. Byron also served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Munich, Germany. After returning from his mission, Byron attended Brigham Young University where he majored in Zoology. Byron then attended the University of Southern California earning a degree in Dentistry.
Byron's little family moved north to start a dental practice, Lone Tree Dental. He practiced for 20 years until retiring due to declining health. After retiring, Byron returned to school to earn a teaching credential and went on to teach Earth Science and Biology at Liberty High School.
Byron will be remembered for his quick wit and love of music and movies. He loved to travel, especially cruising with friends. He loved spending time with his family and treasured watching his children grow and mature.
Byron will be greatly missed by his wife of 30 years, Jeni and his five children, Rachel, Mitchell, Lauren (Skyler Evans) Jeffrey and Byron Scott. He is also the very proud "Papa" of two grandchildren, Carter and Ellie. He is also survived by his parents Clark and Wanda Groseclose, sister Kim Alexander, and brothers, Eric and Glenn Groseclose, all of Brentwood. In addition, he will be missed by his large extended family and numerous friends.
Byron was an inspiration to all who knew him. Our family extends our gratitude for the outpouring of love we have felt. We are comforted by our faith and the knowledge that families are forever.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Brentwood chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1101 McClarren Road, Brentwood. Viewing at 10:00 am, Funeral at 11:00 am.

I was shocked and profoundly saddened to see the notation of Byron's passing in the alumni news section of BYU Magazine. I met Byron through "Camp Timpanogos" in May of 1980. He was a good friend, always even-tempered and kind, a real gentleman. My heart goes out to the family at the loss of your son, husband, father, brother... I pray God's comfort will be with you until you meet again.

I'm sorry to say I just discovered the news about Byron's passing. What a difficult thing it is to outlive one's child. My heart aches for everyone in the family. With vital connections to so many, the loss is especially hard, I'm sure. There is some comfort in the knowledge of our roles in the greater plan and in the certainty of being with him again.

Jeni and family,
I was shocked when my mom called me to tell me the sad news about Byron. My deepest condolences to you and your family. I am not sure if you remember me. I was one of Dr. Groseclose first employee at Lone Tree dental. What a great honest and smart man. He was definitely one of the best Dr's I have ever worked for.

I was shocked when I opened the paper this morning to find Byron's picture in the obituaries! I knew him in our Seminary days and I am saddened at the death of one so young. Though I have not had close contact with the Groseclose family in many years, I remember them as people I loved. I send my love to Clark, Wanda and Jeni. May you feel peace in your testimonies of the Savior's atonement. Love, Kathi (Wood) Athey

We appreciated so much having Byron as our home teacher. I remember well his sacrament meeting talk of several years ago when he spoke on the subject of "Decide to Decide". I have borrowed that theme in talks I have given since hearing Byron speak on the subject. Our condolences to the family. Mike and Jackie Roberts
