Carl is survived by his daughters, Nicole (Ivory) Stewart (Virginia) and Ashleigh Bourgeois (Colorado); grandchildren, Mogale Stewart (Florida) and Nelson Stewart (Virginia); sisters, Adrienne Bourgeois (Massachusetts), Michelle Bourgeois (Colorado), Judy Bourgeois, Lisa (Ahmed Abdur Razzaq) Bourgeois (Louisiana), April Nelson (Colorado), Rose (Tony Tochtrop) Nelson (Colorado); brothers, Stephen Bourgeois (Oklahoma), Charles (Holli Edward) Nelson (Colorado), Rico (Julie Sanchez) Nelson (Colorado), and Randall (Rhiannon) Nelson (Colorado); stepfather, George Nelson (Colorado); and devoted friend, Sheila King. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Abode Hospice and Home Health, Brookdale Vista Grande Senior Living, Gentle Shepherd Home Care and The Springs Funeral Services.

What a loss. I met Mr. Bourgeois when he purchased his property's in Colorado Springs. I also live on Walnut street and have been here for 31 years. When Mr. Bourgeois purchased this 10 acres it completely changed our neighborhood. Many days as I walked my dog we spoke and he was kind enough to give me a tour of the old house on Walnut. I am happy to see that even after his death, his family is fulfilling his dream with the amazing home under construction on Cooper. He was so thoughtful, kind, smart and generous. I will really miss him in our neighborhood. Great, great man. My condolences to his beautiful family.

Mr. Bourgeois left historic homes and neighborhoods better than he found them.
The impassioned and loving care he gave to the former Hagerman estate was beautiful. Here is a photo of what the estate looked like before he began restoration.
