CARL PAINTER Obituary

Carl Elliott (Pete) Painter Jr. Resident of Walnut Creek Carl, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Walnut Creek. An only child, he was born Feb.10,1924 in Salt Lake City to Gladys and Carl Painter. He attended the U of Utah until 1944 when he joined the Army Air Corps. As a navigator on a B-25 he was assigned to the Pacific theater, eventually part of the occupying forces in Japan, although he was not in any actual combat. In 1946 he returned to the U of Utah where he received an engineering degree. He worked for Ford Tractor Co. until in 1960 he decided to make a major career change. He went back to school and graduated from UCSF in 1967 as an orthodontist. He practiced in Concord, CA until 1990. His interest in flying was rekindled and he obtained his private pilot's license. Through flying, he developed lifelong friendships and had wonderful trips, many to Baja to sport fish. Travel was a true passion and he was able check off many foreign destinations on his "bucket list" . He was also a passionate reader and had an uncanny ability to remember every joke he had ever heard. He was predeceased by his wife Nan Taylor Painter (mother of Rebecca Ravizza, Lesley Ottosen, Timothy Dwight Painter) and his wife Connie Smart Painter (mother of his step daughters Marina Bertram and Toni Sivula). He is survived by his wife Evangeline Psathis Painter and grandchildren Taylor Rigby, Steffan and Michael Ravizza, Jake, Justin and Jenna Painter and great granddaughters Hailey and Hayden Painter. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 13th at St. Anselm's Church, 682 Michael Lane, Lafayette at 2PM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
