Pete was a dear friend of ours for many years. At a recent visit with him at Brighton Gardens, we enjoyed a special treat when he played his squeezebox and sang a song for us. We will miss those fun games of Shanghai, the stories of old times and all the laughter we shared! We will miss you, Pete! Frank and Bernie

We spent a lot of time over at Uncle Pete's, especially when we were younger. It was the highlight of many of our weekends. We'd feed the squirrels in his backyard and pick cherries and apples from the trees in his backyard. He always had treats for us and would offer to get us fried chicken or take us to dinner - usually Furr's cafeteria. He'd play his squeezebox for us and let us kids play in the basement. One time he made me a peanut butter sandwich and I didn't know what to do with it because it was open-faced :) He was very patient with us when we were younger, watching us for our parents and giving us rides to games or practices when needed. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking. We'd play Shang-hai and on his turn, he'd shake his head and act like he had a terrible hand, muttering, "oh, this is bad, oh, this is bad," as he threw all his cards down and won the round :) He would welcome us into his home any time, even when we'd stop by early in the morning with breakfast fixings after the annual balloon races on Labor Day weekend to watch the balloons land in the field across from his house and eat breakfast.
We have many happy memories of Uncle Pete. I know he was like a father to my dad, and like a grandpa to us kids.
Everyone in my family loves Uncle Pete and we will miss him terribly.

To my Cousin, Dolores,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mother, Vivian, as you honor the memory of your Uncle Pete. You have been like a rock for them, Dee. May God give you the strength to carry on now, as I know there is much left for you to do. It was good to meet your wonderful family members: Hubby Pat; and Sons Craig and Roger.
God's Blessings, Joanne Meury-Garrison

My Aunt Vivian always spoke of her brother we knew as "Pete" with such
great respect, as did my cousin Delores. My prayers are with you two
and the rest of the family. I was
just there at the cemetary at the beginning of the year. May your memories of "Pete" always be special
and may The Good Lord Bless and Keep
you Uncle Pete, as He will all of
your friends and family here, until you are all together again.

Uncle Pete was a caring, giving man who will be greatly missed. Although I didn't have the fortune to spend a lot of time with him over the years, I will always look back fondly on the times we did share. We had some great times. Going on fishing trips, playing cards, and a two week trip to Sweden are among the many memories I will hold dear. God bless you Uncle Pete. Rest In Peace.

We will greatly miss this man. Never had a bad word for anyone, was the most patient person we have known. I have many great memories going back almost 60 years of fun times at his home, evenings playing his favorite card games, listening to him reminisce about the old times in Colorado Springs
: as a young boy being shot at with bacon rind by a neighbor who was jealously guarding his apple trees, his work at Woodman Sanitorium in the 30's, ice skating on the ponds in Monument Park and Prospect Lake, driving to California as young men in the early 30's with my other uncle, Gene Gustavson, operating a Skelly Gas Station on the corner of Mesa and Walnut ,Living in southern California during and shortly after the war, and so many other fond memries. He had a very conceptual intellect which allowed him to craft or fashion devices to fix about anything. He was always eager to help anyone with anything. May God bless this man and the memories he left.
