Still remember! Paul Wetzig became my Opthamologist when I was 3 years old and born with Glaucoma. Just as he retired (I believe), Carl took over his father's practice and was a great doctor like his father. Being diagnosed 34 years after the beginning of my eye care with the Drs Wetzig, with Sturge Weber Syndrome, all of my opthamologists, even current, are greatly impressed with the great eye health care I was given growing up and want to know where and whom my eye care givers were.
The Drs Wetzig deserve their world-wide recognition!

Carl Wetzig
Though some time's past - I had a "dream"
And we conversed; or so it seemed
And then I found you´ve left this plane.
I wish you well new life again.
Recall it well as we grew up.
We did some things - now all grown up.
Like played in band for many years.
And later on we drank some beers.
And now I´m old and you are gone.
Seems one great life; some kids you spawned.
And help some folks and made some bucks.
Well, here´s to you. I´ll say "aw-shucks."

So sorry to learn of the death of Dr Carl. He was one day younger than myself and Dr Paul was my doctor from the age of 3 until I moved away from Colorado Springs in 1982. Dr Carl I believe, saw me the last time I was in the office. May he rest in peace with God.

My family sends sincere condolences to the Wetzig Family. The Doctors Wetzigs tended to 4 generations of my family & Carl's sister Dorrie was in my school class for 13 years. Carl was in my gym class a couple of years during school & I remember that he always played fairly & was concerned whenever a classmate was injured. My brother John Scott & I wish the Wetzig Family well.

Dr. Wetzig was the ophthalmologist for my wife Jerri for some 40 years and for me about 20. Previous to this, Jerri's mother and daughter was a patient of Dr. Wetzig's father. In terms of technical proficiency, Carl was right at the top of his profession. But in terms of his humanity and caring for patients, he was even better. Our condolences to the entire family. We will truly miss this remarkable man.

Our sincere condolences to the Wetzig family. We have know the Wetzig family since 1968 when his father Paul was treating me at that time. His Father Dr Paul, Carl and Richard continued to treat myself, my wife, parents and other family members. Dr Carl was an excellent doctor and we always enjoyed talking and joking with him during our visits. Dr Carl always enjoyed when my wife would bring burritos and green chili for him and the staff. We also talked how we shared the same wedding anniversary date as he as is wife. Dr Carl will truly be missed by me and my family. God bless you all and may he rest in peace.

The family, friends, patients and fellow workers will be in my thoughts and prayers as we all take time to remember Dr. Wetzig. I treated with him for 20 yrs. He was a fantastic doctor and an amazing person. He took the time to relate and get to know his patients, always asked about my life and often shared an experience he had traveling etc. I didn't have insurance for a period of time and he always made sure I was seen and had the medicine I needed for my eye problems. He will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him! God bless!

I am shocked and so very sad to hear of Dr. Carl's passing. I have been his patience since the day he started at Colorado Springs Eye Clinic and his father Dr. Paul Wetzig before that. Since I am a native of Colo. Spgs., and we were about the same age we always had great conversations about growing up in this area. I will miss him and his great smile and the compassion and the great care he always gave me. My prayers go to the entire Wetzig family. A great man that had so much to give back to others. God Bless!

My thoughts and prayers continue on for the entire family/friends/co-workers of Dr. Wetzig! I lost my Father in July 2018 and Dr. Wetzig was the BEST to him. He was so professional, kind, GREAT bedside manners, and I know he will be missed by all who were acquainted with him! I feel honored to have known him, and I am here for his Mother, Sister Laura, and co-worker April. Truly a shock for all I know. His Legacy like his Fathers will carry on forever!

My sincerest sympathies to the Wetzig family and the office staff. This is a life to celebrate as Carl was one of the finest doctors and most dedicated practitioners. His passion for life and humanity was evident to all of us as his patients. I have been so blessed to have been in the care of Paul C Wetzig, his dad, since prior to his practice in Colorado Springs ( Dr Rusk interned him in Pueblo ) and to have had the excellent care of Carl for this generation. Although Carl has been taken from us much too soon, he has left us with a legacy of our good health and fond smiling memories. Korki (Corliss) Hurd Stroud, Englewood, CO

I first meet Carl at Phillips University in 1967. My grandfather in Colorado Spring knew Carl's father Paul. Carl and I became very good friends and tennis partners. He was a wonderful man. When he was stressed from studying , I would say you need a break, let's play tennis. Also I could make him laugh out loud. I'm proud to say you were a great friend and person. Love you Brother, Rest in Peace. Brad Broadfoot
