Carol Broz Obituary

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Carol Dietrich Broz will be held at 10:30am on Saturday August 17th 2013 at The Ark Church in Conroe, Texas. On May 5, 1930, Carol was the first born of three children to Richard and Margaret Dietrich in Schenectady, NY. She retired her life on Earth to spend an Eternity in Heaven with her Lord and Savior on July 25, 2013 in Conroe, Texas. Carol's parents met in college. Her dad, an engineer and Cornell graduate was employed by GE. They moved frequently when she was growing up settling in McAllen, Texas where Carol graduated high school. She began college at Lindenwood University, a private girl's college in St. Charles, Missouri. This was because she got her application in late to attend Southern Methodist University, which is where she ended up her sophomore year. At SMU she studied English and Interior Design and joined the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta -which she had many stories about- which she belonged to for 50 years. At age 39, in McLean Virginia, Carol met and married Vern, the love of her life. They lived in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Texas together. For 43 years, Carol was a devoted wife, an excellent role model and mother to her 4 children and Vern's 2 children. Carol loved the Lord her God and she loved people. She had the gift of always seeing the very best in people looking past their shortcomings. She always had a charity that she was giving herself to. In Pennsylvania she volunteered at Meals on Wheels; in St. Louis she was president of a philanthropic organization with the motto being "Back to Caring & Sharing"; in Conroe, she gave tirelessly of her time to support the Assistance League, the Thrift Shop and Panorama Village where for many years she wrote a weekly article for the Trends section of the Sunday Conroe Courier. Carol is survived by her loving husband, Vern E. Broz; daughters, Debbie Smith and husband Louis, Kay Tilton, Kim Allday and husband Steve and Sherri Phillips and husband Todd; sons, Leonard Killgore, III and wife Sandra and Rob Broz and wife Elizabeth; sister, Joanie Ponfick and husband Al; brother, Bill Dietrich and wife Minta; (21) grandchildren, Sage, Sarah, Daniel, Nathan and Hope, Smith, Heather Andrianakos and husband Frank, Natalie Graham and husband Eric, Jennifer Evans and husband Tommy, Dustin Tilton, Kelly and Kenny Allday, April, Malachi, Caleb, Isaac, Grace and Elisha Killgore, Michael and Christine Broz and Marisa and Austin Phillips; great grandchildren, Daniel Smith, Jr., Gavin Thorpe, Spiro, Mikayla and Katerina Andrianakos, Owen and Lucy Graham; nephews, Richard Dietrich, Brett and Chris Killgore; niece, Carol Dietrich Fox.
