Carol Campbell Obituary

Carol, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs went home to be with the Lord October 9th. Carol was born October 13th 1940 in Jackson County Minnesota and was the third of five children born to Lyman and Cora Bacon. She was married March 28, 1958 in Spirit Lake, Iowa to Douglas Allen Johnson, who has since deceased. Together they had four children, Donavon (Wendy), Rhonda, Marshall and Lance (Amy) and eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Ben, Molly, Katie, Aidan, Blake and Cameron. On March 21, 1998 she was married to Jack Campbell, adding to her family four more daughters, Jacque (Duane), Lori (Terry), Sandy (Dave) and Julie (Jim) and eight grandchildren, Josh, Shane, Seth, CJ, Brandan, Brenna, Austin and Colten. Carol spent her working years as a switch board operator, ending her career with Memorial Hospital of Colorado Springs as the lead PBX operator. Upon retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel, including a three month stay in South Padre Island. Carol was a loving, courageous, humorous woman with one of her many attributes being to have never met a stranger and was a friend to all. She was also "mom" to many of her adopted children. She was preceded in death by her father, first husband Doug, Brother Dale, Granddaughter Jennifer and step-daughter Sandy. Services will be this Saturday, October 13th at 2:00p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1128 E. Boulder St. with a viewing before at 1:00 p.m. this will be a celebration of her life and we ask that everyone wear something purple as this was her favorite color.
