Carol (Carolynne Diane) Crombie Obituary

Carol (Carolynne Diane) Crombie passed away Tuesday May 17 at her home after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in the Bronx, New York City on April 23, 1939. She is preceded in death by her daughter Kim, who passed away at the age of 13. She married Don Crombie on November 26, 1974. He passed away in June of 2009.

Carol touched many lives not only in her work life in the transportation industry, but as a lifelong friend to others who were fortunate enough to know her. Her career spanned almost 40 years with Manitou Express in Colorado Springs where she retired in 2009 from her job as company president. After retirement she volunteered at Penrose Hospital. She achieved 1500 hours of volunteer service this year. Her volunteer position brought her great happiness being able to help other people in their time of need.

Carol got a lot of living done in the 2 and ½ years from her initial diagnosis. She loved to travel, especially on a cruise ship. She made 6 trips to Alaska and one final cruise to the East coast as her last cruising experience. She also made many trips to Oregon to visit with family she last travelled to Cancun Mexico with her great friend, Bill Burnett.

Carol is survived by her sister Eileen Partusch, brother Buddy, stepdaughters Linda Vallery and Cindy Zentz, and step granddaughter Amanda. She also had several close friends whose friendships developed into a special closeness after becoming a widow in 2009.

In lieu of flowers, Carol asks that you consider a donation in her name to Pikes Peak Hospice or charity of your choice. Service will be held Monday May 23 at 4 pm at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1731 E. Fountain Blvd.
