CAROL (ANDERSON) SPERRY

Carol Anderson Sperry, 80, of Woodland Park, passed away peacefully at home early on August 22, 2021 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Carol grew up, got married, and began raising her four children in Brookfield, Illinois. In 1978 the family took a leap of faith, moving to Woodland Park, and never looked back. Carol was an avid reader, turning her love of words, knowledge, and proper written English into a career as a proofreader. She loved needlework and used her skill and patience to lovingly create knitted, needlepointed, and cross-stitched works of art. Her family is blessed with many keepsakes to treasure.
She loved her family and clearly cherished family gatherings. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary because she had every phone number, address, or year of an event on the tip of her tongue. Her family will now need to learn to look things up.
She enjoyed time spent on the lanai in Hawaii, watching golfers and sunsets and listening to the songs of the tropical birds. She was honored to serve the Lord and her church community by reading from Scripture during Mass. She always had a kind or witty word for those privileged to call her a friend. Her humor will long outlive her.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, of 61 years and their children Mike (Mary Ann) Sperry, Kris (Nate) Olson, Karen (Ray) Sperry, and Rob (Darcy) Sperry, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Carol is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lorraine Anderson and sister Joan Ciura.
