CAROLYN JEANNETTE CANARROE

Carolyn Jeannette Conarroe passed away Aug. 24, 2018, in Longmont, Colorado, at the age of 91 years old. She was born June 30, 1927, in Springfield, Ohio to Ned Morris and Catherine Fissel Morris. Schooling was in New Carlisle, Ohio and Ohio Wesleyan University. She was a member of Theta Alpha Phi honorary and Kappa Alpha Theta.
She went to Calhan in Colorado to teach school but soon married local news reporter Percy "Scoop" Conarroe in 1950. They bought the newspaper, Simla's Pikeview Farmer, and Carolyn began to learn newspaper terms and set type for the newspaper on a Linotype. In 1965 they bought the Louisville Times in Louisville, Colorado. The paper expanded to Lafayette News and Erie Review and they continued until 1998 when the papers were sold.
Her most important job and joy was caring for the family, David, Cynthia and Doug. Catherine Jean, born in 1957, died in birth.
Carolyn helped in many ways when she could and was needed & through many organizations. She worked for many years as librarian at the Louisville Public Library. Louisville history was an interest and she collected the town's history for newspaper items and eventually published the town's first history book, "The Louisville Story." She followed up with two more local history books, and volunteered up until her 91st birthday at the Louisville Historical Museum and the Lafayette Senior Center. Carolyn was a lifelong Methodist and helped compile a history of the Louisville United Methodist Church. She also baked extraordinary banana cream pies.
Carolyn was preceded in death by husband, Percy, in 2013, and her brother, Edward F. Morris, M.D., in 2016.
Survivors include David Conarroe (Judy), Cynthia Conarroe Campbell (Mike), and Doug Conarroe (Dana Coffield); grandchildren Jeff Conarroe (Mary), Andy Conarroe, Patrick Campbell (Lindsay) and Mary Campbell; great grandchildren Caleb Conarroe, Cooper Conarroe, Caeli Campbell and Nolan Riley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Longs Peak united Methodist Church, 1421 Elmhurst Drive, in Longmont . Private inurnment will be in the Coal Creek Memorial Cemetery in Louisville.
