Carolyn Edwards Obituary

Graveside services were conducted Saturday July 11 in Ponca City, OK for Carolyn S. Edwards, 82.

She passed suddenly at her home in Colorado Springs on July 5 of heart failure.

Born June 6, 1933 in Ponca City she was the only daughter of Della Mae DuRoy and Aubrey Newton "Doc" Dow. She is predeceased by both her parents, her brother Wallace and her husband Stanley.

After graduation she married her high school sweetheart Stanley M. Edwards on February 3 1951, just prior to Stanley's deployment to Korea. When Stanley returned they began their life together sharing adventures in many cities as Stanley was transferred in his work in the Oil and Gas Industry.

They lived in the Littleton, Colorado for many years, and were very active at the Columbine Golf and Country Club where they enjoyed social activities with their friends. Part of their time was spent at their PTL (Praise The Lord) Ranch in Granby, CO where their warm and welcoming home was open to friends and family year round.

Carolyn was inspired by nature and became an accomplished and talented artist whose paintings now hang in homes from Wyoming to Texas.

They retired in Colorado Springs where they groomed local "pig trails" through town to avoid the bustling traffic and found their spiritual home and fellowship at Academy Christian Church. It was here in Colorado Springs that her beloved husband Stanley passed in 2004.

Carolyn was a strong happy woman who cared deeply for her family. After the passing of her husband she was the sole caregiver for her youngest son Russ for many years. She would sheepishly admit that her "one bad habit" was shopping on QVC where she delighted in the packages that arrived on her doorstep almost daily.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her sons Scott (and wife Carla) of Casper, WY; Russell of Colorado Springs and Grandchildren Matthew Edwards of Denver, CO; Kristen Leis (New York, NY); and Halley O'Donnell of Casper, WY.

The family asks that any memorial donations be made to a charity of donor's choice.
