Carolyn Veeneman Obituary

Carolyn Masters Veeneman died peacefully in her sleep, in Colorado Springs, September 21, 2015.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Hayes Hartnett Veeneman of Grand Lake, Colorado, her son, William Alex Clark of Boulder, Colorado, a brother, Michael Masters (Margaret Sue), and a sister, Martha Masters, all of Bardstown, Kentucky, and two nieces, Barbara Yates, and Carolyn Masters McHendry.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Edward Masters and Barbara Gallagher Masters, of Louisville, Kentucky.

Carolyn was born on October 12, 1948 in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Louisville, and received her Masters from the University of Tennessee. She taught hearing impaired children in the Jefferson County school district for 28 years, and served on various boards that served the hearing impaired population. She was married to William Wallace Clark for 8 years, Alex's father.

In 1998 she came to Colorado to visit her son who owns a bike shop in Boulder. There she visited her childhood friend, Hayes Veeneman, whom she subsequently married January 27, 2007. They had a home in Grand Lake, Colorado, where she enjoyed the lake, water sports, art and music, and occasionally working in the local coffee shop. Together they made a couple of memorable trips to Australia where they made good friends. Later they enjoyed winter trips to their condo in Vero Beach Florida, where they once again enjoyed water sports.

Carolyn was a friend to everyone she met, and always had a winning smile. She loved life, travel, and just being with friends. She will be missed.

A private gathering of friends is planned.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to oldfriendsequine.org.

Burial will be in Louisville, Kentucky. The family would like to thank the staff at Penrose Hospital and the caregivers at Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care.
