Cecilia Forrest Obituary

Cecilia Maureen Forrest, beloved wife and mother, passed away on June 2, 2013. She was born in St. Louis, MO to Joseph F. and Eleanor M. Callahan. She was the second of 12 children. Cecilia met her husband, Jack, in Dallas, and they were married on September 5, 1981 in Colorado Springs. Their much-loved son, Nathan, was born on October 1, 1990. Cecilia was employed at Widefield School District and later at School District 11 as a secretary before retiring in 1999. Cecilia's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness and love in the lives of everyone who knew her. She lived life in all its fullness and gave much of herself in all she did. She believed deeply in forgiveness, reconciliation and gratitude. Cecilia lives on in the lives of those she touched. Her loving and supportive husband, Jack, and son, Nathan, survive Cecilia. Also surviving are her mother, Eleanor, and siblings: Rose, Rita, Mary, Annie, Walt, Joe, Sue, John, Ginny, Jim and Patrick. Preceding her in death are her father, Joseph; baby brother, Michael; and father-in-law, John F. Forrest. Her mother-in-law, Patricia Forrest and brothers/sisters-in-law also survive her: Scott, Bob, Diana, Mickey, Billy, Patrick, Porter, Tom and Buffy. The Forrest family is deeply grateful to Maureen Gray, Autumn O'Brien and Angelina Pacheco for their loving care and generosity of time. God is love. (I John 4:8) "Behold I make all things new." (Revelation 21:5) In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A memorial service will be held in the Pauline Chapel at The Broadmoor Hotel on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 3P.M. A family reception will take place at the Forrest family home after the service.

Cecilia was a Sister-In-Law who became a true sister. In body and soul, health and even sickness, she was a beauty. Well-read, -spoken, and -loved, C.'s good sense, wit and generosity graced us. She taught me how to drive a stick shift. She typed lightning fast and wrote shorthand at work. She repaired and improved her home with Jack, and raised their son, Nate. Cecilia fought cruel illness and faced life's end with the courage of Joan of Arc. To celebrate and honor her at her recent funeral was a privilege, like knowing her. Her precious life's lessons inform memories of Cecilia.

Cecilia was a great neighbor. She was in the sewing group for a while with the ladies in the neighborhood. I worked with her on the phone when she worked with D11 Science Dept. We always enjoyed our talks with her. Kind spirit, good friend. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
