Thank you for your service! You are a true hero. I have the utmost respect for the military men and women and their families. Chances story touched the human side of war. It's a shame that good men and women must die in war and so far from home. The respect shown to these service members is so touching. They deserve it and so much more. My condolences to all who have lost someone in the service of our country, my many thanks for your service to your country. I pray that I am worth your ultimate sacrifice I don't feel that I am but I will continue to offer my gratitude for your ultimate sacrifice.

I just watched the movie about your son. I honestly have watched it several times and everytime I cry my eyes out. Thank you Chance for the sacrifice you gave to our country. Seeing how many lives you have touched still today is amazing. May god bless your family. They now have an amazing guardian angel looking out for them.

I am also a Marine. There is a special bond between Marines that most cannot ever explain. I did not know your loved one in person, but I know that I lost a Brother. My heart breaks for your loss. I know my Father in Heaven gained someone very special that day.

I have just watched the movie about Chance for the 1st time. It was very emotional and humbling. I served in the Royal Air Force for 22 years and now retired. Each year I parade as a Standard Bearer for Armistice day in my home town. I will pause and think of Chance and his family. Thank you for your service. You are remembered.

Remembering Chance as I show "Taking Chance" once again for my US History students. Having lost my Dad in Vietnam (USMC, 1966) and having served in the Corps myself, this story always hits close to home for me, and I share in the Phelps' family's loss. Semper Fidelis

How can we ever forget young men like Chance? Men willing to step forward when their nation calls. And yes, men willing to give their all if it comes to that. We can't thank them. And how do you thank their families when they would give anything to have their sons, brothers, husbands, etc. back home? No, all we can do is remember them. Pray for those who are facing danger today in faraway places. Defending you and I who enjoy the freedoms of our nation without giving much thought to guys like Chance. As we near this Veteran's Day in 2017, we remember men like Chance who fell while serving the people of the United States. Words cannot express what our hearts want to say. All we can say is that we do remember that when war comes there will be young men like Chance who answer the call and they know that some will fall. So we write futile words but most of all we remember and our hearts ache a little more.

Hearing Chance's story has only increased the respect I have for the honorable men of our military. Watching the film and seeing the funeral service was an emotional experience for me, as I was called back to the burial of my uncle just a few months ago. As they laid Chance to rest, I reflected on how I felt seeing my uncle, with a flag draped over his coffin, lowered into the grave. Like Chance, my uncle was humorous. He was honest and frank, but never failed to make us smile. I think of him and I miss him, and I know the Phelps family does the same for their brave son. May God hold him close. Rest in peace, Chance. Thank you for all that you've done.

I am so touched by Chance's story and dedication to protecting the rights we take for granted. His story was a realization of all of the sacrifices made by these men, women, and their families. Watching this movie made me recognize what so many families are going through for the loss of someone who died for the safety of our country. "Taking Chance" impacted me and I'm sure it impacted everyone that has watched it or anyone else to watch it.

Chance Phelps was a man who sacrificed himself for his fellow comrades. He was a man who lived to the best to his abilities, and made sure that he put others needs in front of his own. He was a great man and he will be missed.

After watching "Taking Chance" and hearing Chances story I cannot believe how many people were so kind to Mike and Chance on their way home! Especially when they got to Chances home town it was so inspiring to see how the whole town got together to remember Chance and help comfort his family and friends! I have always had a lot of respect for military people but after watching "Taking Chance" the amount of respect I have for military people now is out of this world! I think if the world have more people like Chance the world would most definitely be a better place!!! I am so thankful I got to hear about Chances story and I really hope more people get the privilege to hear about Chance and learn his story!
