Charles Ammen Obituary

CHARLES "CHARLIE" ANDREW AMMEN
January 26, 1948 September 27, 2020

Charlie died peacefully at home in his sleep. He was born in New Orleans to Charles W. ("Frenchy") Ammen and Hazel Ann Ammen of Manitou Spgs., who both pre-deceased him. Charlie lived in Colorado Springs and is survived by his sister Sharon Ammen and her husband Ron Moore, in Chicago. During his lifetime he worked as an engraver with his father and also served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Charlie was an avid reader and lover of literature. He held a B.A. in English from the University of Colorado. He performed as Grizzly Bill on local television and acted in many plays in dinner theatres and at Millibo Art Theatre, where he is mourned by his large extended family. His sister asks that donations be given in his name to the theatre at www.themat.org.

Charles was a wonderful person and a born raconteur who always had a witty remark or amusing anecdote to share. He was our funniest, liveliest members of our book group at the Old Colorado City Library. He will be sorely missed.
