Charles R Featherston unexpectedly passed away in his Cañon City home on September 23, 2025. He was born June 1, 1936 in Ogalla Nebraska to Robert Featherston and Margaret (Schilz) Featherston. He grew up on a family farm in Nebraska. The family moved to Denver Colorado, and he graduated from East High School class of 1954. He then went to Colorado State University and pursued studies in the mental health field. He was in the Air Force and served as an EMT while serving our country. The family moved to the Black Forest Colorado Springs CO area in 1970. He became employed in the mental health field at Evan's Army Hospital on Fort Carson Base in 1989. He met his wife Maxine there and they moved to Penrose CO. Charles was an avid horseman and was an accomplished rider in Western and English saddle. He raised and showed Appaloosa horses. He trained horses over the years and was a part of the National Appaloosa Club. Charles also became involved with many riding clubs and enjoyed sharing this hobby with his wife and family. When they retired, they moved to Cañon City CO. Charles is preceded in death by his (mother) Margaret Featherston, (father) Robert Raymond Featherston, (brother) Robert Featherston, (niece) Laura Featherston, (wife) Maxine Featherston. He is survived by his (sister) Rae Jeanne (Featherston) Lucero, (niece) Carla R. Lucero-Wimbley, (great nephew) Holden Grove, (great niece) Aleassa Wimbley. Additional family members as well as Sister in laws Nieces and Nephews from his beloved wife's family. Many friends also survive Charles. He lived a full life and will be greatly missed. Grave side service at Beaver Park Cemetary Penrose CO October 17, 2025 at 10am.
