Charles Anthony Johnson, age 70, passed away on January 17, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital surrounded by family. He was born October 20th, 1947 in Fairfield, Iowa to Max and Naomi Johnson and was the youngest of 5 children. He grew up in Stockport, Iowa and was a 1966 graduate of Van Buren High School. He married his high school sweetheart Linda Hendricks in 1967 in Stockport. Together they raised 3 sons.
Chuck attended the University of Northern Colorado. After graduation, they came back to Iowa where he partnered with his parents-in-law, Glen and Betty Hendricks, at Hendricks Equipment in Keosauqua. They made their home in the foothills of Pikes Peak for over 20 years until recently moving back to live by Lake Sugema in Keosauqua.
Chuck enjoyed all sports but especially loved watching his children and grandchildren participate. He also loved being outdoors fishing, hunting, and shooting guns. He was known for his humor and his infamous "Chuck jokes".
Chuck is survived by his wife, Linda; 3 sons, Troy (Heather) Johnson of Keosauqua, Jeff (Jennifer) Johnson of Portland, Oregon, and Brandon (Jennifer) Johnson of St. Petersburg, Florida; 8 grandchildren, Kali (Tyler) Muhlbauer, Kyle (McKaila), Max, Carter, Addie, Nate, Angie, and Caroline; 1 brother, Gary (Vicki); 2 sisters, Judy (Jack) Barnett, and Patty Anderson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Stanley.
The funeral will be held at the Methodist Church in Stockport, Iowa at 11:30 am on January 26, 2018.
