Charles King Obituary

Charles Noel King (Chuck), age 93, died on Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Colorado Springs, where he was surrounded by family. Chuck was born in Whittier, CA, on December 14, 1923, to Charles Noel and Alice Mosebar King. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed tremendously. He was preceded in death by his beautiful bride of 66 years, Jeannette.

Chuck grew up in Yakima and Seattle, WA. He graduated from Broadway High School, joined the US Army, and served in WWII. After the war, he graduated from the University of Washington.

He and his beloved, Jeannette, were married Dec. 25, 1943. They raised their family in Seattle and later in Bothell. Chuck worked for Boeing Company many years, retiring in 1984.

He and Jeannette loved traveling and spending time with their sons and their families. They took several incredible vacations with their sons and daughters-in-laws to Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Italy.

Chuck's greatest joy, besides his family, was his long and varied involvement in local and state fraternal organizations. He belonged to the Yancey C. Blalock Lodge #265 of Washington of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of the Seattle Valley of Scottish Rite, member of the Past Masters Club and Legion of Honor of Nile Temple of Shrine, Worthy Grand Patron of Eastern Star, and a recipient of the DeMolay Legion of Honor.

Chuck is survived by his sons, Randy (Jeanne) King and Brian (Kitty) King of Colorado Springs, and two younger siblings, Norland King (Everett, WA) and Patricia McLaughlin (Seattle, WA).

He is also survived by his six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank those who loved Dad/Grampa and his caregivers in 2017. His smile and twinkling blue eyes will be sorely missed, along with his dry sense of humor and soft, sweet voice.

A Celebration Memorial is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on August 17, 2017 at Cheyenne Mountain Retirement Center, 945 Tenderfoot Hill Rd, Colorado Springs, 80906.

Grandpa King, You are so loved by your family. You're presence will be missed at the family gatherings, with the twinkle in your eye, telling a funny story or recalling an old memory. I have no doubt that you are having a ball, as Randy would say, on the other side! Love, A

VW Chuck was District Deputy to the ol' #32 and my WB Dad, Bill Norton served as WM in Genesis #305 during his tenure...we all labored in the Masonic Quarries together doing joint Degrees where you had to put each candidate through separately even up to 4-6 at a time...he did leave a legacy of superb ritual work and a mentor to many of us!
