Charles Lavandar Obituary

Charles Albert Lavandar, III, of Colorado Springs, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, October 22nd 2015 at the age of 31.

Charles is survived by his parents, Charles Albert Lavandar, Jr. and Patricia Alseph Lavandar; his children, Charles Albert and Maria Yzabelle; his brother and sister, Timothy John Lavandar and Maryellen Elizabeth Lavandar; his grandmothers, Mary Alseph and Ellen Clark; nephew, Brayden; and nieces, Katelyn and Joslyn; and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandfathers, Charles Lavandar, Sr. and John Alseph, Sr.

Born May 5, 1984 in Merced, California, Charles grew up traveling as a child of the Air Force. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 1996. Charles was passionate about remaining active. From construction to athletics, he excelled at any task he put his mind to. He had a knack for inspiring others, thanks mostly to his outgoing personality, but also his immense heart. Chuck, as many knew him, was always certain to leave an impression. A beloved individual, he will be missed dearly.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28th at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel with a reception to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Sonterra Grill, 28B South Tejon Street, Colorado Springs. I don't know Charles personally, and I hope that you will forgive me for sharing my thoughts here. I was actually reading the obituary of a friend when Charles' young and bright smile caught my eye. I felt compelled to read his obituary and was glad that I did.

Learning some of the details of Charles' life, even some things as simple as the spelling of his children's names sparked curiosity in me and made me wonder and marvel at the intricacies and value of everyone's life experience, life's fleeting nature, and the eternal perspective of why we are really here on this earth.

I know that we have a loving Father in Heaven who rejoices in our achievements as well as feels the pain of our sorrows at the loss of loved ones. We all have an eternal course that we are on.

Charles seems like someone that I would have liked to have known. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Charles' family and friends, that you may eventually find peace during this challenging time.

Charles, I've known you for many years through my daughter Julia, you attended Jr. High and High School together. I got to meet you again playing pool against you at Time Out. The last time I played you, you beat me, it was the only game you won that night, and it was against me! You will be dearly missed. RIP, I will miss your smiling face. God Bless

I spent two years with you while you created and built my fence..a fence you were proud of and a fence that was exactly what I wanted. I'll remember you and the sandwiches we ate on my porch and the conversations both there and out front at your car every time I look at the fence. I always looked at you as one of my adopted sons and know what? Sons are not supposed to go before their moms. This is too..too soon and I am very sad.
